DENSO leverages both internal research and external partnerships to create cutting-edge and worldwide solutions. To identify and cultivate those external partnerships, DENSO launched a Corporate Venture Capital (CVC) team in 2014 to invest in startups and university spinouts. DENSO’s CVC team searches around the globe for strategically impactful startup companies working on unique technologies, or business models, in the automotive, transportation and mobility industries.

Investment Philosophy
As a strategic investor, we are very focused on helping startups with technology development and building a business relationship to DENSO. While financial return is certainly an important outcome, it does not drive our investment decisions or business development actions.
We desire to work with startups to accelerate the introduction of their technology into the automotive/transportation industry, and also to establish a mutually beneficial business relationship. We focus our efforts mostly on early-stage startup companies, so Seed stage to Series B is our main investment target range.
We are open to taking on the Lead Investor role and our investment terms tend to be quite friendly to the startup company. The key to the success of our investment efforts is helping our startups become successful!
